How do we test for Covid-19?

We use a technique called Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction or RT-PCR. The Ministry of Health Malaysia has recommended to test patients who have symptoms of COVID-19 using this technique. It is currently the 'gold standard' for Covid-19 testing. This test looks at the specific genetic material of the COVID-19 virus to determine whether it is present or not.

What does the test involve?

1. Our staff will guide you to provide a small amount of saliva in a plastic cup provided

2. Your sample will be analysed at our laboratory for the specific genes of the Covid-19 virus.

3. Your test result will be ready within 24 hours.

4. A doctor (which can be of your choosing) will review your result and advise you on next steps.

5. The testing process will take around 5 minutes.

Is there anything I need to prepare before doing the test?

Do NOT eat, drink, chew gum, smoke or vape,chew tobacco/betel leaves,brush teeth or gargle with mouth freshener for at least 1 to 2 hours prior to the sample collection.

Is this test valid for travel / immigration purposes?

Deep throat saliva sample is accepted as a valid RT-PCR COVID-19 certificate at immigration points in Malaysia. We strongly advise you to check in advance with the local embassy of the country you plan to visit as well as the airline company whether this test is accepted.

Am I eligible to take the Covid-19 test?

All individuals without symptoms and do not have close contact with a COVID-19 positive individual are eligible.

All Individuals with symptoms and/or have had close contact with a COVID-19 positive individual will not be eligible for the test. It is strongly advised to see a doctor at a clinic or hospital.

What do I bring to the test?

Please bring your IC card or passport and your booking confirmation email.

Do I need to make advance payment?

Yes, advance payment is required prior to conducting the COVID-19 Saliva Testing Services.

What is the refund policy?

A refund shall be given to you for any cancellation 24 hours before an appointment. Refund will also be granted in situations where we are unable to test because you have developed symptoms on the day of your appointment. Refunds are made via bank transfer and will take around 3-4 weeks for processing. An admin fee of RM20 will be deducted.

Will I be provided a receipt?

Yes, an electronic receipt will be e-mailed to you following confirmed payment received.

Can I claim my insurance?

You are advised to check with your respective insurance providers for information on coverage and compensation.
